2014.5 & 2015 Ford Mustang - Twitchin Kitten - 08-30-2013

OK got a sneak peek at the new Pony car and I am very, very disappointed. Looks like they're going back to the hideous '90's body style and taking out a lot of the performance features. Rumor has it they're not going to offer the BOSS 302 either. WTF? Really? This is going to be a massive failure.

I am so happy with the look of my car I now need to make choices. Do I simply tweak this out a little bit and keep it AND look for a used 2014 in a couple of years or do I tweak this out fully, including dropping a bigger engine and manual tranny in there? I'm talking serious remake.

I LOVE the dash on this model. The round vent holes give it a very retro look and the body style is so very retro looking too. That was my main attraction to it.

I don't hate the '10-'14 models either so another option is keep my car and just get that cold air kit and get a '14 and work the hell out of that.

Decisions, decisions.

Have a LOOK at the 2015. Goddamn that's ugly.

And have a LOOK at the crap they're offering for the 50th Anniversary! ugh

What they should have done was offer up a total retro, limited edition, safety standard and emissions compliant true retro model the likes of this and it would have been a freakin' hit.

Even the emblem on the panel and the grille are fugly.

Well mustangs as a rule are over rated anyways, unless you bring Shelby into the mix it's a mediocre car.

I enjoy my car and negative comments about the car won't change that Tongue

I'm a big fatass so i can't even fit in a 2000's mustang, but have you ever wondered why they never use mustangs in nascar?

Nope. And since I'm not a NASCAR fan, and don't take this as snotty, I don't really care.

I'm not racing my car. I bought it to enjoy it. Gonna put a cold air kit on it soon and then think about tweaking other things in the future.

what is the purpose of buying a sportscar that doesnt get that great of gas mileage if you're not going to drive it fast. Wouldnt a caddy be a better choice if sheer enjoyment and comfort is your angle? I'm not even trolling here just trying to understand.

The Caddy I'm hot for costs like $50K. Can't afford that and probably never will. So that dream is out. I've always been a fan of the Mustang since I was a kid. I don't care about gas mileage. Comfort and luxury isn't even an option. My lil' car goes plenty fast and I was quite surprised with that. I didnt' think it had it in it, but at nearly every stop light, and without much effort, I'm chirping that thing. So, for the small engine and basic package, I'm OK with that. I buy what I can afford.

the instruction manual for the 32 v northstar engine in this car will tell you that being a high performance motor in order to avoid excessive oil consumption it's advisable to drive it like you stole it, all the time Smile

The new mustang body style is going to appeal to most and I see why they did it majority rules when it comes to cars sadly. I personally wish they didnt drop the front so low it looks like the ford fusion almost, the back of the car looks good though its just that front eh.

A majority of new mustang owners are young girls and guys but more so girls own a mustang, my generation females would not be into the retro style they want the curvy futuristic looks, the "modern" young females pretty much have no ovaries when it comes to sports cars they like weird shit.

As far as performance there was no reason to keep the boss it was too much of a financial premium for minimum increase in performance over the 5.0 which by the way is an amazing engine. Then there is the 5.8 supercharged which drops 660+ horsepower, it just made sense to take out the middle ground. Performance wise over all the newest year trim lines are going to all perform the same to their previous year trim lines.

Now for your options, cheapest move in long run would be get the 2014 model mustang with the engine that best suits you with the interior you want. Doing an engine swap and upgrades to your current mustang when you physically cant do the work yourself is a money pit. You will have spent at least half to 2/3rds the money needed to get into a 2014 model that you would want.

I have a really good salesman at freehold ford that can get you a real good deal if you lean toward the 2014, the company I have a franchise with has been using this guy for 10+ years .
