OK well I caved. I got myself a facebook page for this site as well as my other ones. Matt's site is next.

Seems if you want anything promoted you gotta say "mommy may I" through FB. Hopefully this will draw in a few good new members. If it doesn't, oh well, I like this site busy or slow. It's what makes it a comfortable little circle of friends.

I'm not going to add a link-box like I have on the other sites to protect all your facebook pages privacy. I think the little blue icon at the top of the page is fine. I'll find a larger one and swap it out when I get a chance.

Just be careful if you must! Lock down your privacy to friends only and do like I did and tell people to please don't ask you to play the games because you'll only disappoint them by not playing.

I did face book like 6 months ago, for a few days....
Yep, the privacy thing, the way it just went into my G-mail and welcomed the whole fucking world into my my shit. I didn't have much info on there anyway, just my name really, but still. I didn't know it was gonna do that shit.
And farmville, really? I need to plant and harvest shit all the time on the computer? Hell, I have a real garden that I have a hard enough time trying to find the time to go water and pull weeds and stuff.

I did look around and found some people that I have not heard from in 20 to 30 years, looked at their stuff, thought about contacting them. Then I thought to myself that there must be a reason we have not had any contact for 30 years......fuck them.

I'm very embarrassed admitting this, but I play Farmville now. When I first joined FB, a couple of my friends were burying me in requests to play and I finally knuckled under and gave it a shot... it's actually kind of addicting. It's not a game so much as arranging your little trees and buildings in aesthetically pleasing ways and I really enjoy when my little fruit trees need picking. Stupid fun but it's relaxing.

I've got my privacy settings on pretty high and I'm using a name that's nearly impossible to identify as me. If you REALLY want to throw people off the track, create a new email account that you've never used and you'll be totally incognito.

I think what I like best about FB are the news feeds for items of interest for me and you can find just about ANYTHING on facebook. Got an online magazine you like? Good chance they've got updates whenever an article is published. Special interest like biking events? Updates.

Yeah, I said you gotta go through FB to get anything now or promote your stuff.

Twistie, just don't hit any of those links that say search for friends though your (whatever) email account. Skip those and just look on your own. Believe it or not, you can log in today with that same login info and your account should still work. They NEVER delete it, they only DEACTIVATE it, which means you should be able to log in again.

There used to be a saying about air travel that before you go anywhere you gotta go through Atlanta. I think they can change that to Facebook now.
