I think dressing little girls up like grown women and parading them around for adults to judge is ridiculous and disgusting. But in Mill's defense, it was a one time thing done through her dance company and she was dressed in a little girls princess costume. I think he was just proud of his cute little grand daughter, nothing more nothing less. I'm proud of my two good looking kids too, so what? So to be preached to throughout the whole thread about the negative impact on a young girls self image by a certain someone who is known to post tons of photos of airbrushed naked chicks with breast implants is ridiculous.

I could not agree more. My daughter is 2 and a half and absolutely beautiful. I have had strangers approach me trying to convince me to enter her in pageants. Other mother's. One just last night at my son's baseball game.
I politely declined, and she just kept up the prodding. My daughter will obviously realize she is gorgeous at some point but I will always put more emphasis on her intelligence and capabilities than I will her looks.
I am disgusted by the toddler pageants.

Everybody thinks their kids are beautiful.

EVERYBODY.

It's a human ego instinct thing, "everybody that came from me is beautiful, just like me!!"

I think that most parents think their children are beautiful because they are their children and they love them. Not because they came from me and I am fabulous.

I am pretty sure BS was adding a bit of sarcasm in that remark.
[Image: PancakeBunny.jpg] I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head

i had a reverse situation. my youngest son was/is drop-dead gorgeous. he was approached by a modeling agency at age 13, and i checked it out for legitimacy. he was the quintessential blonde surfer-looking boy, and we lived in 'surf city' Beach (florida). pedophiles like boys too obviously. he was also an athletic prodigy.
he had visions of clothes, money, girl models. so i let him think HE made decision to turn down modeling in favor of sports, because there would have been no time for both. as it turned out he was a pro ball draft pick at 17 and pitching paid for ALL his college. i was glad he made right choice because i don't want any kid to think looks are enough in life. they are too ephemeral.

he tore up his pitching arm (lefty) because of coaches overpitching him in college. he was throwing 90 mph at age 16. broke our hearts Heart. we tried surgery, too much damage. age 16 here.

sorry to go off topic. it was about the value kids put on beauty and looks, and i don't think so much weight should be placed on that, it seems we are all agreed. look at the vain spoiled little useless celebutards who have no self-worth or real purpose.
