We got there around 7:45 and had a bit of a foggy view up the track.
This year we opted to go with the "expensive and exclusive" Club Nitro tickets. Normal pit side reserved tickets cost $68.00 and are the first 3 and top 5 rows of the grandstands. We've been getting those seats for 20 years and generally got section BB or CC which are right at the 660 foot (1/2 track) line.
Club Nitro is a fenced off area at the 1000 foot line which is now the finish line for the nitro classes (other classes still go the full 1/4 mile at 1320 feet). These tickets are $135.00 BUT include the limited access seating, are closer to the track, a covered area, catered lunch, coffee and donuts etc in the morning, private members only restrooms, free soft drinks and water all day (Coke products), select drivers come to YOU for autograph sessions, beer stand just for members and tables to sit at. No lugging coolers, food, plastic in case of rain or umbrellas for shade or any of the other normal incidental stuff to carry.
I was a bit concerned at first that maybe it was a bit too expensive for the "extras" we would get but after things got going I was convinced that this is the where I want to be from now on.
A nice hot meal on a plate with a table to eat at sure beats the hell out of dragging out a sub or making sandwiches hours ahead of time and trying to eat while balancing food and drink on top of a cooler in the grandstands.
