You know, there is now a similar product being hawked on TV. 5 second fix.
I went to the Bondic page and the conversation is closed and no news of anything further in it's development, but that 5 second fix thing looks very much like the item here. Of course my skeptical mind thinks, "Did they steal the idea or did these guys finally get it to market and changed the name?"

So I'm guessing this is just a competing product in the exact same type and style of pen. So.. a rip off. Or maybe Bondic is the rip off? Who knows!

Other Liquid Plastic Resin Options

While the first liquid plastic resin pen to appear on the market was Bondic, the genre has recently exploded with many “As Seen on TV” manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon with their own versions, including Lazer Bond and BondTastic. In fact, if you take a look at each of these products, you’ll see that their designs are nearly identical to one another.

Compared to these other options though, 5 Second Fix is claimed to be sandable and paintable, which could certainly be a big advantage if you’re looking to achieve the best looking repairs (and who isn’t?).

With this said, this means that you have plenty of liquid plastic pens from which to choose. On top of this, many of these might be available at your local hardware or home improvement store, which could help you save money on S&H charges if you’re dissatisfied, not to mention making the return process as easy as hopping in your car.

Which seems to indicate Bondic is the original, and all the rest are knock-offs.

EDIT: The middle sentence there about 5SF being sandable and paintable? So is Bondic. Bondic is also dyeable, something 5SF doesn't say anything about.

Think I saw something like this at lowes a few months back, basically a pen that dispenses ultra violet light hardening resin. Kinda surprised someone didn't invent this sooner.

I still wonder how much different it is than my old hot melt glue gun?

I would think much different since this stuff is plastic and needs the UV light to cure where the glue is just that, glue. I've never had any luck with hot glue staying put and forget crazy glue - that shit plain don't work unless you glue your skin.

If you actually read the details on Bondic it's significantly different. It creates new plastic to fill the gap, not just bonding the existing materials together like glue does.
