Recently a contingent of Islamic imams held rallies to speak out against ISIS and its act of terrorism.

http://newamericamedia.org/2014/09/musli...-islam.php

http://en.ria.ru/analysis/20140905/19267...ining.html

Sooooooooo........why haven't we heard this before? In the 13 years following the 9/11 attacks there were "rumblings" about "peaceful muslims" but none were coming forward publicly to denounce the terrorists and their actions.

Many acts have been committed as well as acts of arrogance which I believe were meant to goad the public into striking out against muslims and STILL......nothing but crickets chirping as we listened for them to speak out.

The question at hand is: Why now? Why have you waited until now to come out of the woodwork and stand up?

Could it be that this is just a show for our benefit because they fear we are finally pissed off enough to demand that the bullshit be dealt with? Is it that only now they have realized that action is a REAL possibility and they are scrambling to save their own asses?

You have to really wonder about the sincerity of these imams' condemnation of ISIS and its acts! All the pressure being exerted by the Islamic community for the implementation of Sharia here in the U.S. and demands for accommodation of their religious practices in schools, businesses and public places while at the same time the government officials are squashing Christians and Jews from displaying THEIR respective faiths in public where there are NO "special demands" or accommodations are being sought must make one wonder.

I, for one, damn sure do!

Without reading your links, I'ma say that they're just lying to save their own asses. Rule 1 is to lie, blend in and deceive to gain their way. They've managed to get a good foothold with all the political correctness they've gotten out of the western society.

Funny how Obama ran on anti-war and Bush was wrong and now he's asking for help in this war he's managed to get us in. How many times did Bush say not to tell them our end game or they'll come out of the woodwork? Regardless whether he should have started or not, once in you don't tell the enemy your end game.

Obviously mainstream Muslim leaders in America are not fools. They know they need to publicly denounce a group such as ISIS or ISIL or whichever they are going by today. Undoubtedly most of them believe it. But also quite as obviously someone here is preaching the evils of America and jihad. Otherwise you would not have cases of Americans found there, or in Syria. Or cases of teenagers trying to get there like we had out of Arvada, middle class white suburban metro Denver....

Exactly my point.

If there were so many muslims that had the best of intentions but were just "misunderstood", then they would have been vocal about the "bad" muslims long before this.

Label me a xenophobe but........I say send them all packing to the middle east where Islam is the prevalent religion and let them deal with the savages up close and personal. Wonder how long they would sing the praises of Sharia law then?

It would appear that the ones here are simply the more meek among them and want the easy life that they can attain with a pussified politically correct government who will bend over backwards to not offend them.

FUCK YOU ASSHOLES. You came to the USA so do what PRIOR immigrants did......INTEGRATE, ADAPT, EMBRACE.

Those actions created the true melting pot as opposed to the garbage stew we have today.

Diversity my ass.

Sharia law that the hard core assholes twist to their own interpretations too.

Like that nasty shit where they cut the clit off a teenage girl so she wont enjoy sex. *shudder* I've heard horror stories of fathers & brothers doing that too their own female family members with jagged shards of glass. Some fucked up shit right there.

Anytime you create a special class just to talk to God for you, you can run into this. This is one of my issues with Catholicism also.

Or, from my point of view, the problem with belief in a diety in general. Then people can, and will, blame all their problems and failures on said deity. They also get to use their doctrine to justify any evil they do. Hence atheism for me. Well, all of that and that I feel that religion is a means of controlling the masses of sheeple by the rich and powerful Wink

Well, Ok I can go along with you there. I guess I just wasn't taking it far enough.

Personally I do not believe in organized religion, as you run into a lot of what you are saying. I don't consider myself an atheist, I have always considered myself to be agnostic. But I don't have a problem with atheists or atheism. It DOES answer a lot of my complaints against organized religion!

Aye, just like I have no problem with faith. In and of itself, faith isn't a bad thing. It's only when combined with doctrine and dogma that issues come about. So many great examples throughout history. Like the Crusades.

Agreed.

One's own personal beliefs should be just that.....personal. When you start denying FACTS and physical proof of things in lieu of FAITH is when I start to have a problem with it.

I really don't give a flying rat's ass if you want to believe that god is a giant platypus with golden wings and lives on Alpha Centauri. Just don't let that become the know all and be all of everyfuckingthing!

The majority of atrocities committed throughout history have been done so in the name of a deity. Many wars have been fought over religious beliefs. Mass tragedies have been caused by or precipitated by religion or religious cults.

The only thing the the vast majority of religions have right is a version of what Christians have dubbed "the golden rule"......"Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you". Past that it's mostly smoke and mirrors.

My daughter the smart ass has this view on the religions of the world:
"Out of all the promises made by the various gods of all the religions, Odin promised to rid the world of ice giants. Do you see any ice giants?"
