OK I'm hoping Matt can come up with the video he found Saturday as it was much clearer than this one.

Anyone with any views on this? It was pretty awful to watch, but no one is saying anything about this kid being a dumbass and getting out and chasing speeding cars on a racetrack. Does anyone else here think that was a bad idea?

I don't think Stewart hit him intentionally. He may be a hot head at times, but he's not homicidal.

You might have to sign in for this video. They made me to see it.

And yes, Ward was a fucking moron for getting out of his car at all. Doubly so for going RIGHT AT Stewart's car shaking his finger because he thought Stewart spun him out to cause the crash. I couldn't tell if that was true or not, but dude... you don't run AT a car. That's just asking to be hit.

Pretty clear that Stewart didm't intentionally spin Ward. Rather, Ward tried to squeeze the outside line and didn't make it.

As for afterward which led to the tragedy, Ward should have NEVER got out of the car. PERIOD!
Unless the car was on fire or posed an imminent danger to him, he had no reason to get out. THEN walking into the path of moving cars was completely moronic.

If Stewart hadn't hit him, someone else may have with the same result. DUMB MOVE on Ward's part. It was Ward who set the scene. Sadly it cost him his life.

Yeah I agree, at the end of the day this is a car race with materialistic things that can be bought or replaced. Life can not, if you have beef with how the guy did or didn't do something put your finger in his face after the race don't point your finger at the hood of his car while hes going 50-60 mph. I dont think anyone would intentionally try and hit another racer regardless of issues between each other on the track.

That's all they go in sprint cars? 50-60 MPH? Looked like a whole lot faster to me.

I think they go faster under normal race conditions, but they were slowing down due to Ward's car being wrecked. But then again, I've never really watched Sprint Racing either so I wont swear to it Wink

I think I heard that they were under yellow flag already because of the crash.
