OK my kooky neighbor sent me this. I usually ignore all the political stuff she sends because most of it on it's face looks goofy. But I actually checked this out because it was a legit news source link.

The goofy part of her email says everyone is now carrying it. Sure they are. I must have missed all those pumps with E15 every time I gas up. Scratchead

Anyone know anything about this stuff? Is this another insane push to force us into "green" fuels or some eco-friendly bullshit that no one can afford?

(I tried copying the video but it goofs up the whole page and it copies the copyright on the bottom of this site instead. weirdness)

It's a push for "greener" fuels.

Calling it E15 is just a renaming of the stuff that's called E85 in the mid-west. Currently the maximum mixture is up to 10% ethanol. They want it to go to 15%.

The big problem is that the higher the ethanol content, the lower your MPG!

Dumb fucks THINK it's cleaner but due to the higher volume consumed the emissions of hydrocarbons go up in volume.

It's the same flawed thinking that has spawned the higher content of bio-diesel mixtures. Same result too. Lower MPG and higher overall emissions in the end.

Didnt watch the video but, Flexfuel or E15 its really all the same is bigger on west coast and the south not so much here. It's a "sticky" fuel and can leave a residue and also the ethanol part of it is quite corrosive. Most of the new fords and alot of trucks and suv's are flex fuel compatible I know my truck is but I wouldn't use that shit anyways.

Ford is one of the companies that will void a warranty if you use it.

On Vehicles that don't support it. If its a flex-fuel compatible vehicle from Ford it doesn't void the warranty.

Wrong Dylan. If you watched the video any vehicle older than 2012 is not supported. Ford had flex fuel vehicles prior to 2012 I believe.

Ethanol use in fuel also raises crop prices of corn among other things. It takes vast amounts of corn and other crops to make ethanol. Brilliant move for the world food market.

I like to think it's continued inefficient use is the result of lobbying by Agri-business.

The energy yield of the grade of ethanol being blended with gasoline is very low. All it ends up doing is lowering the efficiency of the gas.

The grade of ethanol that is used in some race cars that prefer to use it as opposed to the more corrosive methanol is much more efficient but costs around $28.00/gallon and doesn't mix well with petroleum based fuels. Methanol does mix well but runs in the $35.00/gallon range.

Methanol is the "cutter" used in top fuel when it's mixed with nitromethane.

I am not sure when ford started making some of the automobiles flexfuel compatible but any car that has a flexfuel badge on it can use E15. Regardless of what the news report said they had generalize it to a model year because they can be held liable for what they say. My truck is a 2013 model so I dont have a issue with it, but still wouldn't use that shit lol, I need all the mpg I can get and from what I understand the higher ethanol blended fuels hurt that.
