Frankly I don't know where to put this, since Joan does not have a Computer section, and an almost totally unorthodox title setup. But lately I have been watching the fellows at Google. So I posted this on my ai-jane, and thought I would also bring it here.

I have used Chrome, when it was quite young. And even thought it was lacking in areas, it was constantly improving and adding to the program. And certainly it was better than Internet Explorer.
But Google is troubling, if you look at it holistically. First of all, Google is getting to be too big for its britches. And if you add in the fact that the entire original crew are dedicated Jackasses, and Big Government geeks, this means they are also positive toward Big Brother. I don't trust them, and neither should you IMO.
And lately there are certain Google proclivities, reaching the news, that back up my worry. As an earlier thread pointed out, if you value your privacy, and don't wish to become part of the Big Brother Collective, perhaps you may want to ditch practically all of the benefits Google has to offer. Because those benefits may well have a hidden cost you are not even aware of.
Just read this critique of Chrome Google, and see if you don't see a lot of caution flowing under the immediate surface. And note the concern of the Opera executive about how Google has changed into something else. As for me, I intend to divorce myself from as much Google as I can.
Remember anyone who can offer you everything can also take it from you. These people at Google are beginning to frighten me.
