What is it the last few years with sports and this "walk of shame" after a game?

Why are we expected to endure a mea culpa on TV from the losing team on why they lost the day's game? Who started this trend? I want to slap them.

I'm not even talking about post-game commentary shows, I'm talking about these interviews where you see the backdrop curtain of the team, a sweaty, out of breath player (or one who just swiftly showered for this torture) explaining why the team didn't muster up.

And these are regular season games. EVERY DAMN GAME. It's like a public punishment where some naughty kid has to explain himself.

This is why I much prefer watching my Red Wings on Fox Sports Detroit... they interview us win or lose, but always with a fair amount of courtesy... I'm not sure if its because the guys working for them are all former players or not, but I like it a helluva lot better than when the games are on VS or NBC (same announcers) where Mike Emrick always rips the losers big time. Plus he's usually pretty down on the Wings, I don't think he likes them on a personal level.

No, this isn't those kinds of interviews. This is those big staged kinds where there is a pool of reporters asking questions and the interviewee is sitting at a table as if he's on trial.

A quick interview from the hosting network commentator or the arena commentator is one thing - directly after the game, but those 'trials' demanding an explanation are a whole different thing. Whatever happened to just letting the guys go to the locker room and let the post-game meatheads rattle on? The game's over. Someone has to lose.

Sometimes they get that shit rolling before anyone has a chance at them.
