My Babe is two years old!
I had a letter to say it's warranty service was due. The car was registered in November (by the person who put a deposit on it then didn't collect).
So I booked it in for yesterday. The night before some bastard knicked the aerial although I only noticed when the radio tracking wasn't too sharp taking it to the dealership.
They are going to replace the fuel breather box because it leaked when we first collected it and the breather tube still isn't good. So the whole thing is getting replaced before it goes out of warranty.
The sales office called offering us a good deal on a new car, trading in Babe.
Noooooo!
Mark went to see what the deal was.
They suggested I could have an identical Fiat 500 on the road next week with £3995 in my pocket with some Fiat finance deal.
I cannot see the point in having another car that is identical to the one I already have that I have to pay for monthly.
Babe was an insurance buy from Christine's insurance on her Clio.
Cost? Nothing
So it has a red/black/white interior and I had wanted a blue and white. So they said I could have that colour scheme on a new car with headlight upgrade and bluetooth.
The lights are fine, the best compared to the cars we have in the drive (candles on the Renault 4) and I don't use a phone in the car- ever.
The money back? Pay for the road trip only it isn't much on a pay out when second hand Fiat 500 sell for £7000 on eBay. Then the finance deal will cost over the next two years...........when of course Sales will phone and make an offer.
Upgrade? Maybe, a scenic roof would be nice, air con', be nice but don't need it here for more than 2 or 3 days a year.
Can I part with Babe? Emotionally not.
Yes and I know its a machine, and I wouldn't feel the same if the electical shop called to trade the microwave.
*Oh Mark had to take Babe back after the service, it drives like a rupertured duck now, they fitted a cracked spark plug. We have a Fiat Punto until it gets fixed tomorrow.
Mark likes it for one reason only........its cherry red. I hate red cars.
