So for years I have the same bank. There were NO ATM fees from the bank no matter what ATM machine you used. Many banks do this. If there is a fee at the ATM for using it, it's from the bank / owner of that particular machine but your (my) bank didn't charge a fee for using a machine that wasn't theirs.
Well, I get a letter today stating that on 3/1/2011 there will now be a fee of $2 per transaction at any ATM that isn't theirs.
Top this off with the fact that if the machine you are using isn't a free ATM you can be charged for whatever that bank/machine has on top of your bank's $2.
Fuckers.
I heard about this shit on the news awhile ago and I forget if it had something to do with new/old regulations or fees the govt is putting on banks or something or other. All I can clearly remember is it has something to do with the government and why the banks are now upping the fees. Whatever the "reason" it sucks.
Oh and they are going to be ever so helpful - there is an ATM location finder app for Iphone / Ipod touch and Android to help me find bank ATM's. Aint' that nice of them?
Fuckers.
Now, if I want a premier account with NO fees whatsoever, I can open one but I cannot let it go below $2500.00 / month. Yeah, that'll happen.
