I figured this out accidentally, after a customer gave me an iPod touch 4th gen 8 gig with a cracked display.  The thing worked fine after charging it up.
I happened to have a GigaWare audio/video dock left over from yet another customer.
One day while browsing the app store, and putting Netflix on my iPod, it came to me, why can't I use the GigaWare dock to stream Netflix? Hence negating any need for any expensive Blu-ray player or game console or anything for that matter. The dock cost maybe 40 bucks at Radio Shack.

It doesn't have an HDMI or Component output, just Composite Video or S-Video and audio outputs.
Hookup is simple, and video streams very smoothly over wi-fi.
