0 OK you guys don't really understand. There is no merging going on other than the individual users who may have duplicate accounts on each site. This will NOT happen until or if ever, Dylan gets me that plugin that allows multiple site logins.
What I want to do is bring the site offline, the hell with Angie, and let the domain expire. The cooking forum would be on THIS site's hosting in it's own directory and only WE would be able to access it until Dylan ever gets me that plugin. THEN i can merge duplicate accounts. If you're not sure, read the first post again.

0 Ok....I guess we're all guilty of using convenient (but not correct) terminology here.
Yes you should remove the cooking site from its current position and make it a sub-directory of this one. Let the independent URL expire. Am I right in thinking that's what we meant here folks?

0 ok, got it now.
I say bring here. Did you have cooking stuff on the site in the beginning??

OK Kim, I'm not sure you still understand. See LK's quoted text above here. It won't be part of this site in the way you're thinking. No one will see it but us but it will have it's own "address" within the site. I'd put a link to it up at the top in the welcome box. You'd still have to join to participate but I can merge all your accounts in the future once Dylan manages to get that plugin working. To answer your question, yes, for awhile on this site I had a cooking section but it started to get very big and I opened a whole cooking site dedicated to just recipes and cooking and moved ALL the stuff there. Remember the cookbook I was going to have published with all our recipes in it? Well, I still wanted to do that and was hoping everyone here would join the dedicated cooking site afforded me even more recipes from new members but it just isn't working out. That site has been there for 3 years. What's the problem getting members? Blogs and fucking Facebook. So many cooking blogs out there now and they're easier to deal with. People can open a free blog nearly anywhere and no worries on maintaining it or dealing with members. They just post their stuff and away you go. No conversation regarding the recipes. No help if someone wants to try your recipe. No way to add your own recipe. It's one person's stuff and that's it. My reasoning for asking all this is that I worked hard on trying to get that site going. I have a lot of my own recipes in there and I just hate to lose it all. I figure at least here we can still use it, I don't lose it and if I ever wanted to start again, I have the stuff still updated and ready to go. I just migrate the database and files again and I'm all set. None of us who post there lose anything either. Kind of a self preservation thing if I ever want to try again.

0 Keep it if you want it. If it was here, I would more than likely take a looky look.

0 It's going to be the same amount of trouble "here" you know. You'll still have to click a link to see it. The link is already here at the bottom of the home page. Been there the whole time. Also, there's a direct forum link - if you click the cooking category you'll be taken to the site. Same for my computer help forum.
I just don't want to bother with new registrations since the site is slow is all.
