Well, she's home. She's miserable, the joint is swollen and her good leg is sore from whatever awful surface they had her in overnight. Poor thing.

I'll take some photos soon. I want her to settle down first.

I think she's getting an infection, Glo. It's red, but not painful and at first I thought it was a razor burn but the redness is bigger today.

The vet said to leave it alone if she's not fussing with it but I'm not sure. Poor thing is still miserable and I think I'm going to call and bug them again.

I'm waiting for a call back from the vet. I don't like what this leg looks like at all and they are not sure from my description either. It looks infected but it does not act infected. She's not in pain and she's not fussing with it.

He asked me to email photos and then he'll call back and let me know if he wants to see her.

These are before and after. In the first pic you can see where her good leg was sore. That's all healed now.

Nope. That's why its so confusing.

I just got a call back from the doc and he looked at the pics and thinks it could be bleeding that is seeping to the surface. I should put warm packs on her to increase circulation to the area and to open the vessels so the blood 'flushes' through. If it still looks like this on Friday, I'm to bring her in and he'll look.

If she starts to become really painful before then, I get to bring her in on an emergency visit at a cost of about $500. I'm hoping for the best. I can't afford an emergency visit.

Hooray, Digbat pulled out all her stitches while the leg was covered last night. I just woke up to a very neatly unstitched incision.

Going to get dressed now and take her in.

Surprisingly, the cut is tight. Going to take pics before I leave.

That redness is in half now. Dr. I was right, blood that needs to dissipate. We hot packed her all night and this morning half that shit is gone.

So, off to Dr. Tony now. I called the place where they did the surgery and the woman pissed me off with her idiocy. I'll go to my own vet for the stitches.

Well, we're back. No charge and he said leave it alone. He tugged on it and stretched it and it's holding. He said there's no point in knocking her out for a couple of stitches if it's holding on it's own.

You ain't kidding!

She's still miserable but the dingbat loves going to the vets! She's in there as if it's a special party for her and her alone.
Top it off they give her treats, so she thinks the place is fantastic.

I got to cancel the appt to pull stitches on the 3rd and we keep our New Year's eve appt for the follow up. I'm just glad it didn't cost me anything today. This is really expensive. I think we're into this dog alone for about $7K + in vet bills.
