Did I tell you the gossip from our trip to Bridgend?
We had a weekend camping trip to the car club but took the Saturday to visit hubby's cousin for lunch who lived nearby.
I'm sure it was pre-planned but after lunch Sandra and Kirk's neighbour 'popped' in and was all surprised to see they had visitors (our campervan was in the drive). Anyway she is clearly a very close friend and she went and made coffee for us all while Sandra cleared away and Kirk took us into the garden.
Lizzy it turned out ran a shop that hired vintage clothing and she was so excited that a lady had tried on a 1955 'bell-dress' in bright red and lace. She was 'a no-one' but she was a 'wannabe'. This dress was going to go on the Red Carpet for the premier of Sex in the City when it opens soon in London!
We hope it get the attention this lady wants because it will be so good for Lizzy's business.
Lizzy was lovely, slighty bizaar and extorvert. She owned a Fiat 500 so we got on very well comparing notes on our baby cars.
Sandra then told us they all drove down into France on holiday to share a house with another couple of friends. Lizzy and her husband arrived last late in the evening.
Now Lizzy admitted she ate as she drove and was a very messy eater, dropping food all over the seats. When she arrived she jumped out of the car to greet everyone and they were all appalled to see a white stringy goody mess hanging from her crop-jean crotch. It was a lump of Brie cheese she lost while driving and eating and it had melted.
So she galloped off to their bedroom and threw the jeans on the floor in the corner of the room to wash out the following morning.
In the morning when she woke up she saw mice running along the roof beams of the bedroom (this was a very old house). She got up, picked up her jeans to find a hole was now in the crotch the size of a teaplate!
The mice had spent all night eating the cheese and because it was stuck to the denim, ate that too.
We had a really good afternoon (I didn't even know Mark had a cousin called Sandra) and felt very comfortable all together. Kirk is her second husband and comes from Philidelphia. Thanks to Joan and Matt we had something to talk about!
When I was telling him where we live and about my grandparents (there was a field of sheep behind the house-long story) it was discovered when he moved to England he worked in the city of Salisbury and rented a cottage in the next village to my grandparents. He knew the pub in the square and we think he may have even been in the pub on occasions when my grandad was in there playing checkers!
Small world?
