NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A murdered woman's body was mistaken for a Halloween decoration in Ohio. The body was found hanging from a fence in Chillicothe, Ohio, but contractors working in the area thought it was a dummy.
Rebecca Cade, 31, was trying to escape from her eventual killer when her sleeve got caught on a barbed wire fence. She was later found dead with blunt force trauma to the head, said police.
Contractors working in the area found her body on Tuesday.
"At approximately 8:30 am this morning a deceased female was found near a fence line at the dead end of N. Brownell St. in the City of Chillicothe. There were obvious injuries to the body and the case is under investigation by Chillicothe Police Detectives, Ross County Coroner’s Office, Ross County Prosecuting Attorney and crime scene units from Ohio BCI&I," said officials earlier this week.
A bloody rock was found near Cade's body.
Donnie Cochenour Jr., 27, was arrested. He was ordered held on $2 million bond after pleading not guilty.
Various local media outlets report that Cade and Cochenour knew each other.
A mug shot of Cade, who has an arrest record, was released by Chillicothe Police.
