The weather was chilly and track/air temps odd but no rain!
Corrected density altitude (air temp vs water grains in the air) was at 16 feet BELOW sea level when round 1 started. It never got above 500 feet all day. That made for some tricky conditions for tuning the cars. Very small window in tuning that determined hero or zero.
A new record was set for Funnycar E T......Jack Beckman set it at 3.897 seconds.
Lots of oddball shit happened because of the tight tuning. Guys that never go much past round one made it to the semi finals! LOTS of winning passes with exploded engines. Cars getting full sideways and back. Just a strange day at the races!
Oddly, all 3 John Force cars went out in round one. Only their Top Fuel car went on to round 2 and Brittney Force did a hell of a driving job in round one keeping it straight and down (mostly) the middle.
