Well I think he's cute. What you do want in your area are opossums. They are the rat's enemy and will do a better job of keeping rodent vermin out of your house than any cat.

I used to feed the raccoons when I had the farm. I enjoyed them. I kept a bag of food out by the barn for them to keep them from coming up to the house. It was amazing that they didn't raid the whole bag at once, but they made it stretch for quite some time.
