I honestly didn't see this happening back in May but today we have another Triple Crown winner.
Yesterday Justify became the 13th Triple Crown winner and only the second to do it as undefeated. The only other to achieve that was Seattle Slew in 1977.
Here's something to think about. Since the inception of the Triple Crown there has been a phenomena in that there seem to be spurts of winners then dry spells. This is likely due to gene pools at the given times of winners happening in groups.
The list of winning years is:
1919 then an 11 year dry spell.
1930, 1935, 1937, 1941, 1943, 1946, 1948 another dry spell of 25 years.
1973, 1977, 1978 followed by 37 years of drought.
Now we come to 2015 and 2018. Will there be one or two more in the next few years?
