Recently I was wasting some time at the Guitar Center store in Harrisburg and decided to check out a few "inexpensive" (read that as under $800.00) basses.
I have been considering picking up a less expensive bass that I could tune to dropped D and just leave it there if I could find one that has a decent tone.
After messing with a few Ibanez and Yamaha models (even a couple 5 strings) Barb pointed out one that was hanging on the wall that caught her eye.
I had a sales rep pull it down and gave it a test play.
I was floored by the tonal range and feel of it! This was the nicest cheap bass I have ever played. Very comfortable and quick neck, very good quality control knobs, VERY wide tonal range and fullness, excellent balance and weight and a damn attractive paint scheme to boot!
It's an Ibanez SR250 painted in Soda Blue Sunburst.

I have some old gear that I no longer use but is in excellent condition so I'm going to load it up and go see what they will give me for it all. I'm pretty sure I will be able to walk out with this bass, a hard case for it, a new strap and probably strap locks. Hell I may even have the gas money for the ride left over.
I'll probably ride down either Saturday afternoon/evening or Sunday and see what happens.
