50k miles you do it or if you see a drop in gas mileage, there is a air filter cleaner you can get at pep boys you spray it on, wash it with regular water then some filters require oiling some do not. You need to look up your specific model, odds are you will only have to clean it once or twice in the life of the car especially since its not your daily driver.

It is my daily drive, Anthony. I just don't go away from the house much.

Well even so I dont see you needing to clean that filter more then a couple times over the life of the car. It will either die from computer failures etc or you will trade it in for something else by then.

Yeah.....fitty tousan or shitty gas.

Really they last a rather long time before they need cleaning unless you frequently get into dusty environments.

Like Anthony said, hit Pep Boys, Advance, Auto Zone etc and they have the cleaner on the shelf.

They are very restrictive to airflow and grab even itty bitty particles that can easily pass through with no harm. Basically they OVER filter the air.

Exactly what I expect. I already chirp those tires at lights without having to mash the pedal. Surprised me for the 4.0L engine. Didn't think it had that much oomph to it.

I still don't like the automatic tranny. It bangs, hesitates etc too much for my tastes. I shift much smoother on my own.

It's a ford, somewhere on that engine is a little screw it's near the air intake on escorts, it controls how the automatic tranny shifts, letting you spool up more or less by turning the screw up or down, you'll lose some torque but the car will shift smoother if you fiddle with it. just count how many turns you can see on the screw (write this down when you do it) <- do that then you screw it all the way in, count so you know youre right, then back it all the way up, count the screw threads ^ do that Wink and then you can perfectly calibrate how you want the tranny to spool before it shifts.

I'll just take it to Matt's friend over at Tranz Connection and ask him to do it. Smile It'll be done right that way.

Yeah but that kinda thing I'd rather not. If I mess it up it'll be too costly to fix. Or maybe I can just have bobby watch over me while I do it just in case.
