Yes, I have finally mosey myself back in here. Will definatly stay a while, this time!!
I have spent the last couple months helping the handicapped lady I work with move into her new home. She had lived with her mom, but her mom passed away early in February. Kim is a smart lady, but her physical limitations would prevent her from living completely on her own with out staffing.
So, a friend of hers moved into a house in Pittsford, NY (Twist...you may know Pittsford as being pretty well off). So three of them live there now. They are all disabled, and each has her own staff. The parents of Kim's friend bought the house as it is fully adapted.
Long story short, here I am again.

Welcome back! I remember Kim! Is she near enough to you that you'll still be taking care of her or does she get new people now?

Actually, TK, she is closer!! Before it was about a 15 mile one way trip, now it is less than 7. I can make it to her house in about 12 minutes...a couple more if there is traffic. She has had to hire evening, overnight and weekend staff though. What a chore that was. Here , the lady is in a wheelchair, needs full physical assistance with all day to day activities, including getting in and out of her chair, and in and out of bed. BUT she had to JUSTIFY why she needed someone there overnight!! She used to be able to roll herself out of bed to the floor and crawl, say if there was an emergency. But she has not been able to do that in years. This is where I am now going to say "Don't get me started.."

I'm thinking that it has been pretty nice of you to care for this woman, and yeah, Pittsford usually makes me think of nice neighborhoods.

I like sewing, I was sewing my leaf catcher bag with fishing line for the pool Sunday and thought, Damn! Sure would be great to have a thimble!
