Please send good thoughts to my brother - Pickles - 02-19-2010 he is having a open heart surgery today. They are putting in a heart pump to help his heart beat. It is called a LVAD or left venticular assist device. It's to help his heart keep working until they can get him a new heart. He is over in Seattle so we won't be able to see him for several months while his lungs heal and such. His left side of his heart was only working at 12 percent. But everything I've read about it sounds great so can only hope and pray things go right. This is Robin's daddy. RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Twilla - 02-19-2010 Fingers crossed for his speedy and complete recovery, Pickles. RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Twitchin Kitten - 02-19-2010 My fingers are crossed for him too Pickles.
RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Jilly - 02-19-2010 Mine too Pickles and I hope all goes really well. My daughter-in-law `s father had open heart surgery last year and he`s wonderful !!! Thinking of you . x RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - kbear - 02-19-2010 Thinking of you!! Hope all goes well!!!!!! Hugs RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Pickles - 02-22-2010 from last message from sis inlaw he still is ventilated and well drugged but will squeeze her hand and they are weaning him but LVAD is working so his heart is pumping. but hopefully they'll be waking him up tomorrow or so. RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Twitchin Kitten - 02-22-2010 Very good! Sounds like he's taking it all in stride, things went well! Man, his throat is going to be so sore when they take the ventilator out! When I had surgeries the intebation tubes were brutal and they were only in a few hours, never mind ventilator tubes for days! I do not envy him. If he can have liquids, tell her to get him some ice cold YooHoo! I swear that stuff helps way better than ice chips. It coats the throat just enough to make it bearable and it has a great taste! RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Twitchin Kitten - 02-24-2010 Has anyone heard from Pickles? How her brother is doing? Maybe I should give her a ring? RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Pickles - 02-24-2010 Here I am.. Not any fun Holidays to report. Dave is doing really well. He was sitting up in a chair and on Facebook praising the drugs they were giving him. lol He'll still be stuck in Seattle for several months while his system straightens out and hopefully his lungs get better so "all" he'll need is a heart transplant. But as soon as he gets to the Seattle Apt. He'll be able to do a computer chat with Mom. She is doing okay. Her memory comes and goes especially at night. Thanks for worrying.. I can always be check at denise Chamberlain on Facebook or my latest hangout besides here is FrugalPirate.com --- by the way any idea's for a good pirate name for me? My name there is J4S but thinking of changing it to a pirate name. RE: Please send good thoughts to my brother - Rhubarb - 02-24-2010 I've missed this, not being about again for much. I do hope everything is going well. I've had so many customers going in for various heart surgery since Christmas and all of them have since been in the shop (ok, just going easy with their exercise, short walks etc.) to show us all how they are getting on, which cheers us up to know they have all pulled through and done so well. Thinking of Pickles family, the worry will be there until he comes home. |
