Need tires - help - Twitchin Kitten - 07-23-2018 OK after much debate and realizing some scheduled events are rain or shine, Matt & I decided to get tires asap. Those Mickey Thompson's that LK showed me are nice but I really want to put the same size. I don't need all weather. I have the Edge for winter driving. I'm going to talk to the custom shop today and see what they suggest and this is what I've got on there. I have: 305/30R 19x10.5 fronts and 11 in the rear. RE: Need tires - help - Twitchin Kitten - 07-24-2018 Wow, yesterday has been an adventure in looking for tires. The car apparently has an odd size at 19" - bullshit right there because the other car had 19's on it. Pep Boys doesn't even have these in their system. I'm going with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s The shop suggested the Pilot Sport PS2 but the 4S has a better wet rating which I what I really need. I'll keep the ones I have and find a pair of shit rims if I ever decide to do AutoX with the car next year. Heart attack time - tires are in the $400 range. Online price I can get for $370 but really, same shit. The custom shop I use down the road gives me a better price with installation. Gonna look into window tint while I'm at it. RE: Need tires - help - Biker Dude - 07-24-2018 Not surprised at the price. Good tires cost, specially for a car like that. I put off buying tires for my truck for a long time because I didn't want to drop a grand on them. But I also won't even blink for 300-400 a tire for the bike. Which is coming up, even though I can't ride this year as much. I can't believe you don't have the tint already, with no garage. I am spending money on tires I need but would have been all too happy to wait until I wore these out first, but I'd rather be able to drive in the rain and live too. I was just shocked at how much they cost for an inch wider than the old car for the same 19" rims. RE: Need tires - help - Twitchin Kitten - 07-30-2018 New shoes on the pony today. I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport 3. I like. I like a lot. They have really good grip and since it'll rain all week that will be the next test to see how nice they hold in the rain. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+4S&partnum=03YR9PS4SXLV2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes tomorrow before the sun hits the car I need to take some air out of the tires and get them to the recommended 33 PSI as per the door sticker. I don't know why the tire says 50 PSI. I'd have like no grip or much of the tire touching the road! **note: had the wrong tire in the link. it is now corrected. |
