Solar eclipse 2017 - LKTraz - 06-29-2017

In case you haven't heard,  there will be a total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 that will be visible in the U.S.

The path of totality will run roughly from Madras, OR to Columbia, SC
Most of us will be in the path that is 80% - 85% totality.

Here's the site that has lots of information, maps etc.

I saw this and forgot. Thanks for this LK. I'm going to mark my calendar so I'm reminded

About an hour drive, and I will be right in the full eclipse area. I may just do it.

Cool, I will probably remember it if I happen to be outside and it starts to get dark, or I might just run screaming that the end of days is near.

We should be in the 80% to 85% range Twitch.

Please have someone recording that for us if you do. And please, do it.

So, did you do it?

My eclipse glasses. Unfortunately we are not going to have a total eclipse here in NJ but I got to see a 3/4 eclipse. It's on the back end and almost over now.

RE: Solar eclipse 2017 - Biker Dude - 08-21-2017

It was pretty cool. We got about 94% occlusion. It got noticeably darker, but 6% sun is still enough to make it seem like day, just kind of twilight like. We also have solar intensity meters here, and they dropped off to about 12% of normal for that time of day. The one thing I hadn't thought about was it cooled off. A lot, and quickly. All in all I was pretty neat.
