Stephen Hawking plans to send tiny spaceships on a fast mission to Alpha Centauri. This should only take 20 years. Click that shit and read more. I think it's pretty cool.

Unfortunately that's 20 years after the technology is developed and the infrastructure is in place. Still awesome

So do you mean that they don't have any idea how they might be able to do this, they just said they are gonna and everyone got a big old hard on about it?
So if I said I was gonna build a pair of wings out of twigs and bird feathers and fly to the moon everyone would be all excited?

They know how to do it. The Problem is we haven't developed technology able to survive being accelerated to 20% of light speed, nor built the laser array necessary to propel it.
Keep in mind atm a cheap launch rate is about $5,000 a pound, it can easily hit 10k. Hopefully Space X will reach it's goal on sub 1k prices to make this more feasible.
