Should I take it? - Twitchin Kitten - 07-19-2013

I'm very tempted. Very.

For about $450 I can get a free Harley delivered to my door. 1995 Softtail.

I saw an ad for a free bike and inquired. Turns out it's a trike and not a bike. I'm not a fan of trikes but I can sell it and get some decent money for it and trade up for another motorcycle, OR upgrade the mustang.

That is a cool bike! I would have a hard time working on it myself as they are not what I am good at but it sure looks tempting.

Whats wrong with it, and how much can you get out of it will better determine if you should work towards another bike or do upgrades to the mustang.

I can tell you for the mustang, if your looking for more horsepower there are four things you can do , Cold air intake upgrade which is cheapest mod depending on brand will run $150-400 but yields the least gain 5-10 hp, then there is changing exhaust system that would be $500+ that yields about 40-50hp. Upgrade the computer chip thats 200-400 dollars if I remember right you can get about 20+ hp extra out of that. Then the final option is a turbo/super charger running around 2200-2500 dollars + installation, again depending on brand but you will get 40% more horsepower, I dont know what liter engine you have but here is the break down for each engine before and after 4.0L 210/294hp 4.6L 300/420hp, the 2011 GT has the 5.0 with stock 412 hp and would go up to around 575hp which is pretty awesome.

Whoa, whoa, whoa......Wait, you saw an ad for a free bike? It'll only cost $450 to get it delivered?
It's this $12,000 Harley trike? Really? You don't think that maybe you will get fucked out of $450?

Details, gimme details.
I wanna see the ad.

RE: Should I take it? - Twitchin Kitten - 07-20-2013

Anthony, I'm not dumping that kind of money into my car. It's only a base model and I really, really want a manual transmission and rag top. REALLY. At most it's going to get the cold air kit at some point.

I'm just not into trikes but if I can get some good cash for it, I mean it's a 95 - what kind of value does that hold?

Aint' showing no one the ad until I make up my mind. Tongue

Dodgy Dodgy Why?

Harley
Too many wheels for a bike
Not enough wheels for a car
Crap pillion seat
Crap pillion space
Crap bike
Crap colour
Nowhere to put the booty after shopping
Or the beer

Being positive
It doesn't matter which side of the road you drive it on, so some nutter over here may have it for $450- that would be a really cheap bike!

RE: Should I take it? - Twitchin Kitten - 07-20-2013

I'm not going to keep it, Trudi. Going to flip it. Missed two calls back from the shipper due to the noise in the casino. I have a couple questions before I decide.

Screw pillion! Even if I had two wheels I ride single seat.

RE: Should I take it? - Twitchin Kitten - 07-20-2013

Oh and there is a rack for packages behind the seat. No passenger seat on this trike. Don't matter, I'm going to flip it and upgrade the mustang.

Lol! Just like Sher, who found herself walking everywhere when her bike died Giggle

RE: Should I take it? - Twitchin Kitten - 07-21-2013

I'm just not comfortable with someone behind me. Most people have no clue how to sit pillion and are more of a danger than riding in heavy NYC traffic on a bike.

OK this ain't going to happen. It's a scam.

It was a Craigslit ad in the free section.

I was leery from the start but poked around until I could verify all. The ad is down from Craigslist too.

The guy called me three times yesterday while I was in AC and he was some Jamaican guy who just didn't want to hear or answer anything. The photos were not really to my satisfaction and he says they're from in front of his warehouse. Bullshit. What warehouse has lattice fencing and a grassy yard?
He just kept asking me for an address and what not so he can send an invoice and get him money etc.

So, I told him today I will talk more with him and I just looked him up and when I couldn't find the company he's claiming, I looked up the phone number and got that list of the exact same scam complaints.

Seems that he's got the same rate for everywhere in the USA. I thought $415. was pretty cheap to go from Texas to NJ. The gas alone would be closer to $1000 or more.
