Fuck Detroit. I don't go there either. I went as far as Garden City (Detroit Suburb) with my GF a few times to see her family. I no longer go on those trips either. Its an asshole of the country right along with the other cities I named and a few more. Heck, downtown Detroit the last time I was there (10 years ago or so) even smelled like an asshole.

I always though it was a strange thing that even on a sunny clear day Detroit still seems dark and gray.
Once you go north of the Lodge freeway it just gets dank.

Well, I like NYC. I enjoy the weirdo show, I enjoy the bustle, the things to do and the atmosphere. I didn't enjoy Detroit when we went either. It didn't smell like an asshole, it was more like LK says, dark and dank. I haven't been in the summer months so maybe had to do with winter.
All the other cities I've been to just don't compare to NY. It's tiny geographically, but it seems like the biggest city in the world. It's kind of weird but that's the only way I can describe it. NYC is the world all in one place.

Nah....Detroit looks dark during the summer months too.
Conversely Des Moines is a rather bright place except when it's raining.
