iOS 6 HATE IT - Twitchin Kitten - 10-08-2012

Dylan, if anyone knows how you would. How can I turn back to the old OS on my phone? I have the last backup before the upgrade but the only option I can see is that I can reinstall the original OS without all the subsequent updates before iOS 5.

I hate it. It's useless to me and only added shit in there that I don't use, need or want. Fucking facebook and all that bullshit sharing crap!

Email upgrade is a fucking JOKE. All it did was clog me up with "favorites" for speed reading email and some other useless shit for facetime which I've never even used.

Crap, crap, crap. I don't even want to synch the thing for fear I won't get the old shit back.

Sadly iOS backups are for the data only, so you're pretty much out of luck. And downgrading back to any 5.x release is virtually impossible because Apple, in all their fucktard wisdom, has iOS6 destroy the iOS5 files; including the blob files needed to even make the attempt to downgrade. So unless you used one of the jailbreaking tools to save your iOS5 blob files... you're pretty much fucked. To quote:

Apple reps have as yet to return calls for comment, but as Charlotte, NC tech pro Ant Pruitt points out, there’s no real mystery here. Apple iOS warriors in BYOD shops know and have known for awhile that Apple has pretty much locked up the ability to downgrade from Apple iOS 6 by deleting those key files and not “signing” the firmware inside.

It is however possible with a lot of work and jailbreaking your phone. See the second reference link, the one from MacLife.

I'm not entirely against jailbreaking the phone. It's out of warranty now anyway and I think Apple now services jail broke phones or some shit like that.

I'll look at the links.

They'll service out of contract jailbroken phones... since at that point you're paying them anyways.

This is why I avoid apple as a company for all of my electronics except my phone, I enjoy their phone and the user experience and it helps my productivity level. I buy nothing else because of the type of software grip they hold on their customers, as far as the community responses, those are apple lovers for you.

From reading your original post, although the guy came off as a asshole, he had some validity in what he was trying to say. He was trying to say you cant roll back so what do you want to disable and they will try to find out how, but being he is a big apple lover he just assumed everyone knew you cant roll back the OS.

My only big complaint with iOS6 was that it dumped all my facebook friends into my phone contacts which was gay as aids, now I have people like my brother that are in phone twice and god forbid they call, their name appears in 3 different ways. Your only true salvation if you hate iOS6 is what ralgith is saying which is jailbreak it. Apple will service any of their products they just wont do it at no cost under a warranty if its jail broken. That said if your software gets messed up you bring it in they will fix it and give you a fresh install of iOS6 or whatever the newest OS will be at that time lol.

You got it backward Anthony.

It's the phone that is restrictive on software. I have a TON of third party software for my iMac that I value.
