RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Gunnen4u - 03-04-2012 07:50 PM I have a true-life fable for you concerning this matter: I used to cut my own hair quite well, then one day, I noticed I was fucking it up on one particular occasion. So, rather than try to fix it up and trim a bit more here and there, I just put the clippers down, put my hat on, and went to the barber's. He finished cutting my hair and life was grand. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - LKTraz - 03-05-2012 10:01 AM I think they are leaning on the sleep apnea diagnosis as an "easy explanation" way too often these days. It also has the advantage of allowing them to sell more and more cpap machines. There is a big push on for the last year and a half or so to push for sleep studies on truck drivers claiming that sleep apnea is prevalent among them and that they need those machines. Fucking bullshit way to bilk a large segment of the population out of $5,000 or so. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Twitchin Kitten - 03-05-2012 10:08 AM Well, I'm going to have Matt make an appt with his doc over at the VA and double check a few things too. I'm just not buying the apnea thing. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Twitchin Kitten - 03-05-2012 11:57 AM Oh this shit gets better with his snoring nonsense. I just talked with his insurance company. If we don't get the VA to pay for the machine, it just isnt' going to happen. We have a 50% co-pay for durable medical equipment. We just don't have kind of money to put out. Goddamn boss of his keeps chopping down the benefits to the worst possible plan out there. That price is for procedures done within the HMO. fuckers. So surfing around looking for other solutions, I found this: http://www.pillarprocedure.com/ Now, why didn't his doctor, who has some info on this on her site, mention this at all? This sounds more like what he needs than anything else, not even the surgery she suggested! So, we don't get to see her until April 2. I'm going to be asking a lot of questions and bitching. I also found out from his insurance that he can self refer to have a second opinion done. Once this appointment is out of the way and her BS diagnosis is rendered, I'm going to be doing just that. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Twitchin Kitten - 03-05-2012 01:50 PM Ha, ha, ha, CAKE FAIL! Last night I decided to bake a cake after dinner. No box mix, from scratch so I grab my cookbook and follow the recipe to the letter. The thing is, I thought it was odd that the recipe called for two types of flour and no sugar. I figured, what the hell, I've been using this book since I was 9 and it's never failed me yet. it did now! The mix was so thick and gooey, smelled like weird bread but I baked it anyway. NASTY. It was a tasteless, heavy as cement but rubbery hunk of ick.I now have a proper golden cake in the oven. The batter tasted normal Home made chocolate frosting with toasted almonds will go on top. I also made the most awesome diner last night. Broccoli and chicken saute with garlic and white wine. I'm going to make the same thing again tonight only with asparagus. I can eat that stuff every day. Yum. RE: The Completely Pointless Thread - Rhubarb - 03-05-2012 04:13 PM (03-05-2012 01:50 PM)Twitchin Kitten Wrote: I also made the most awesome diner last night. Tomorrow I try it with Brussels sprouts
