My first Craigslist Scam Reply - Twitchin Kitten - 04-05-2011 OK tell me what you think.... scam or not? I have my couches listed on CL - I hate them and they're so uncomfortable. They look nice but they were a waste of $1600. Anyway, I listed them last night and I had an email from a Krista Osborn today. "Do you still have it 4 sale?" I reply Yes, I just listed them late last night. So a few minutes ago I get this: From John Sean - My assistant told me that you still have the item 4 sale,I will pay your asking price. I will likely make payment by check or money order as its the only way I can pay you at the moment (I am actually out of the States on a business trip). I will make arrangement for pick-up after payment have been received by you. I dont mind adding a little extra thirty ($30) dollars so you can keep it in my favor.you should get your payment in 4-6 working days, Please keep it in my favor. Kindly reply with your full name, cell phone number, and address where payment should be sent,i will appreciate if you can get the ad off craigslist so i can be sure you are keeping it in my favor .Awaiting your reply. Best Regards I checked the headers on the email and both her and him come from gmail which will give me an IP of California. So not able to check there to see where he emailed from. But don't you think it's funny how he needs my full address and cell phone? So I sent him this reply: Since you are able to work online, you can deposit money with a debit card directly into my PayPal account if you want. There is no need to have your own PayPal account for this and you can be assured the money goes directly in without delay. I will take the ad off once money is received and cleared. You don't need my cell number or my house number right now. You can give me your cell number instead? I will give you my address when I receive money to be sure this is not just some scam to get my address and phone number. Are you sure you want to buy these sight unseen? These are the couches. I mean if he looks at the ad, there are two pit bulls in the photo, he'd have to be stupid to try to rob me, even with one dead that he would never know about. RE: My first Craigslist Scam Reply - Havoc - 04-05-2011 Send them the phone number to your states attorney general, and an address for the justice dept. Tell them you will be out of town for a week but you will contact them when you return. I know it's legit because it's a .mil email address and I can probably find him over at Lakehurst NAS where he says he's coming from. And we have people who work in high places there ![]() RE: My first Craigslist Scam Reply - Rhubarb - 04-05-2011 No1 son got the same sort of scam selling his SuperDream. He showed it to me and asked what to do or reply. I told him to send the email to the website admin' and ask them if it was genuine. They came straight back that evening and told him not to reply, it was a scam and 'they were dealing with it'. A few days later he got another Admin' email confirming the scam had been thoroughly dealt with and thanked him for reporting it. My brother told No1 son these reoprts go to an office at New Scotland Yard along with any other internet fraud, porn or illigal stuff. I guess that's how my friend husband got caught! RE: My first Craigslist Scam Reply - Jamminitin - 04-05-2011 Total scam. My hubs replied to a guy selling a truck in the UK. I told the guy my BIL lived there and wanted to look at the truck. The guy did a few emails back and forth trying to convince us to pay via paypal first and then disappeared. After the whole thing I went on CL and told hubs, "Ummm didn't you read the GIANT RED header on CL that says any offer to ship overseas is a scam?" "No I didn't" durrrrrrr RE: My first Craigslist Scam Reply - Twitchin Kitten - 04-05-2011 Well, turns out I have some free time tonight - the guy isn't going to take the couches because I have pets and he's allergic. Oh well, next? RE: My first Craigslist Scam Reply - twisteroo - 04-05-2011 Yeah, that shit is a scam, it's not even worth the effort to reply.....except with a picture of a donkey cock. If you put enough ads on CL, you will get a lot of them, the only ones on CL that you can really trust to be legit are the hookers. |
