Blizzard Schmizzard! - Twitchin Kitten - 12-27-2010 I've been up for an hour. Fucking dogs need to pee. They're going to have to hold it for awhile longer or pee on the floor because we can't open any doors except the front door. I tried letting Goliath out there but he wont' pee in the front. He will soon enough. Daisy wants to run in this shit like mad but I can't let her with her leg. It's up to my freakin' neck out there. Seriously. Fucking storm stalled out over my house. I got the video camera ready and I'm going to see what I can video in the dark. The truck is buried. The doors are buried. The street is buried. Everything is buried. I blame the Minnesota Vikings. Goddamn jinxes is what they are! ![]() They don't expect the snow to stop the bilzzard conditions until after noon today. RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - Twitchin Kitten - 12-27-2010 Two photos from the dark of morning. As you can see it's still snowing! 11 inches my ass! first pic looking toward the right side of the pool and pergola. That silver bit in the bottom left is the TOP of my pool. Matt shoveled that small area for the dogs to pee. It's filling in swiftly. [attachment=1525] Same area (back door) looking left toward the fence. You can see the 3' high picket fence in the far background here. That drift against the house is 5 FEET high and the snow is 3 FEET plus and continuing. [attachment=1526] RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - Twilla - 12-27-2010 Jeez, that's a shitload of snow to get all at once. Hope you guys don't have to go anywhere today. RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - Twitchin Kitten - 12-27-2010 Matt was supposed to work. Most of the east coast is shut down now in this shit. I'm surprised we got this dumping this year. We usually get a big ass blizzard like this every 6 years or so. I just hate that it's all going to melt during the week. We're in for a flooded basement if it does. RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - Sally - 12-27-2010 I took the dogs out for a walk this morning and slipped on the ice and about broke my hip. I know this might be usual for other people, but I live in freaking Florida ![]() RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - Twitchin Kitten - 12-27-2010 Did you really break something? I know it was 27 down there earlier and it is climbing now. You guys are having a real cold winter that is highly unusual for you down there. Especially this early. More pics: Fudgy's house across the street - that's plowed. Can you see the road? We still can't get out. [attachment=1527] Pat's house across the street. [attachment=1528] Down the road: [attachment=1529] Up the road - those "bushes" you see the branches of sticking out of the snow at the end of [what used to be] my driveway - they are 5' tall to the top of the stems (for perspective) [attachment=1530] RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - LKTraz - 12-27-2010 The nutcases I work for actually let 3 of our drivers head down to Elizabeth in this shit! ![]() I had all 3 in a conference call with me and it's not a pretty situation down there. Ray and Cheryl ended jumping off 78 a couple miles before the GSP and got a premium tour of unplowed roads and low clearances in the Hillside/Irvington/Union/Newark areas. Took them 10 damned hours to get there when it usually takes 3. They were glad the met up at the shop and decided to run "tag team". There were accidents and jackknifed trucks all over the place as well as freakin' PLOW TRUCKS stuck!!!!!!!!!! Tom ended up staying on 78 and it was no better at all. When they got there (each one to one of our 3 facilities) the NJ shop manager freaked out and asked why our dispatch even let them leave the plant let alone go to Elizabeth. I went to Tastykake in Philadelphia and only spent an extra 1/2 hour getting there due to lowered speeds on the Pa Turnpike and Schuylkill Expressway. Pretty much a decent ride even with the weather. RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - LKTraz - 12-27-2010 Just heard the official snow depth for Elizabeth, NJ......38 inches! ![]() RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - Twitchin Kitten - 12-27-2010 Did you find out for the Toms River / Ocean county area? I haven't been able to find one. Hell, I can't even get local weather on the weather channel here on FiOS yet. We still get newark. RE: Blizzard Schmizzard! - twisteroo - 12-27-2010 I only have one thing to say. ![]() |
