Check this out. I was expecting quite a different result!

Very interesting. I too would have expected the old car to hold up better.

I don't doubt it. I would not want to be in either of those shitwagons.
But you figure those old cars had a bumper and then about 5 feet of air and then the engine then another 5 feet of air then the dashboard, then another 5 feet to the driver, man they probably just crinkle right up.

I never thought of it that way. I see the smaller car and it's compactness and I figure you're going to have an engine in your lap easier.

Not being an engineer or having any knowledge of the like, I imagine they have implemented more flexibility in the frame, undercarriage and other parts that never had flexibility and that could be why the piss pot is safer?

I bet the new car could have just swerved and/or stopped and avoided the whole thing. The old boat would have still been trying to slow down with both feet on the brakes or the driver would have been busy turing the wheel around 3 times before the car started to swerve.

The '59 would have been made with heavier gauge metal and you would think it would be tougher but evidently that's not the case.

Seems that the '09 disperses the impact away from the passenger compartment where the '59 just absorbs it and that's why the damage transfers to the passenger compartment.
