Todays Wedding - Rhubarb - 09-04-2010 I didn't believe I could see so many weddings in the space of less than 10 minutes just looking for a parking space! The East Cliff is hotel city in Bournemouth and a wedding favourite. James and Laura were married in the ancient church of St Swithins right at the entrance to the avenue (which is decommissioned) and open for use for religious celebrations that need a Registrar present (Catholic, Mormon, Jedi, etc) It was the best wedding I attended in ages Happy, not too sickly sweet, and some traditional music played by the band James is in, so it was easy to sing along with modern pop music The Reverend was a friend of the family and as he began his address James leant forward and handed him a hankerchief, which actually made the poor man quite emotional, while everyone else laughed. That's James. (That is Karen's arm in the photo She didn't know which side to sit- so she sat on James side until she saw me and as the register was being completed she jumped over the organza laiden aisle and sat with me). RE: Todays Wedding - Twitchin Kitten - 09-04-2010 Wow, you were home early too! They look very happy! How long till he's sleeping on the couch? Was there a live band the whole time or a DJ was hired too? I hate DJ's at weddings, they're so goofy and embarassing. At least a band you have a more personal / classy atmosphere no matter what genre music they play. RE: Todays Wedding - Rhubarb - 09-04-2010 Oh no Joan- I only went to the service. They were both friends of Christine's. They had a reception at Laura's parents house afterwards, but I left before they finished the official photo's. It was a hour and half in church (and I had to rescue my car before the traffic warden found it) The band was great but only played as the bride came in and the hymns. They had Handels Messiah to leave (a bit odd I thought but it work). At least they stayed away from the Wedding March! I really hate that piece of music........maybe thats why I enjoyed the service so much. RE: Todays Wedding - Rhubarb - 09-04-2010 (09-04-2010, 03:22 PM)Twitchin Kitten Wrote: They look very happy! That was mentioned How many rows they will have before their first anniversary, and it was hoped as they set up their new home (they haven't lived together- bless them I think that is so rare these days) that someone bought them a comfy sofa and a sleeping bag! RE: Todays Wedding - Twitchin Kitten - 09-04-2010 Fantastic! Yes these are the kids you mentioned earlier, I remember now! |
