He was a crook, but did alot for our state. but I always wondered why a how a man can be a senator of a state and not live there for 30 years? He lived in Virginia.......

Because he was in the Senate. Senators have residency in DC or close towns in Virginia to be close to work. He had to have a residence there to be senator for the state.
