Oh I've seen these things around for ages in Penny's and Macy's lingerie dept. They advertise them for use with strapless gowns. They're brilliant!

It's a good idea. There are various versions of these, depending on the style of dress. There's one that is like double sided tape to stop dress tops slipping or popping open!
