Yep, they are cute little shits, when they grow up they are garbage eating, leg shredding, catfood stealing, shitting in my barn, eating my birdseed, gonna wind up roadkill.
But they are cute, I'll give them that.

What twister said.

I had a roomie that had a pet (and I use the term pet loosely) racoon. Roomie left out of town and I was in charge of the effer, it about ate me when I tried to feed him. Needless to say the little bastard went hungry the rest of the weekend..... I might have managed to throw some dog food at him from afar.

People around here get all excited because they are starting to see black bears in the area, as for myself, I'd rather run across a piss off black bear than a 35 pound pissed off raccoon.

a couple weekends ago my son visited a friend and said that 3 raccoons came into the yard to be hand fed. obviously a routine. but my son said he was reluctant because the cute critters weighed about 40 lbs. each and he was worried they could be rabid. unfortunately they often are.

RE: The cutest baby raccoons in the world - Twitchin Kitten - 04-08-2010

Every raccoon born is rabid. Well they are not rabid but they do carry the disease. I've never had a raccoon attack out of nowhere. They pretty much want to be left alone and would rather go the other way. Wild animals only attack if they are full blown rabid or they feel trapped.

I've had a pair of raccoons as pets and they were a blast. They were kind to everyone. I had them live outside in the woods, natural style. Eventually they went off and lived proper wild raccoon lives. We rescued a litter of 6 who fell into a wall from an attic nest.

The fat little bastards eat my bowl of outdoor cat food every night from the time the come back out in the spring till winter sets in. When I go out a swat them with the broom they get in that want to fight mood in a hell of a hurry.

During the summer I probably go though 500 pounds of cat food, 10 for the cats and 490 for the damn coons.
I know, I know, sometimes I do bring the food in at night. Actually I think they rotate, possums one night and coons the next.

I always fed the possoms. They are the best rodent deterrent.

If you want to keep wild animals from stealing your pets food, don't leave the food out for them. Pretty simple.

You can't expect them to know it's not for them.

I do bring it in when I remember.
Actually, it's kind of funny watching the cats watch the possums and coons eat their food. They just sit back and watch. The only time it was scary was when there was a skunk eating out of the dish and my Tuxedo J. Pussycat was messing with the skunk. We didn't know if he was getting pissed about the food or had that Pepe Le Pew thing going on.
