RE: I bought it! - Twitchin Kitten - 03-11-2014 Just red lights and side streets on Staten Island when I was younger. RE: I bought it! - twisteroo - 03-11-2014 I raced a KZ1000 at a run what you brung day at a local drag strip when I was a kid. It was loads of fun. However they raced for estimated times so I was eventually beat by a 360 Honda that ran more consistent times. And of course been in a couple of drag races on the street, one was with no limit until the other guy decided that he couldn't catch me and I couldn't get away from him. RE: I bought it! - Twitchin Kitten - 03-11-2014 My high school had the best automotive shops in the 5 boroughs. The school was on a mile long stretch of road and the guys had all taken shop. They used to race the cars right in front of the school all the time. If the girls were lucky, we got to ride with. Sometimes you'd catch a teacher from the shop classes "testing" out a new mod the kids installed on a car. The 70's were awesome. No rules. RE: I bought it! - AnthonyG - 03-12-2014 I've been to raceway park in englishtown its pretty cool, never drag raced there or on a allowed track, just on empty roads etc. RE: I bought it! - Twitchin Kitten - 03-12-2014 OK so i went looking for aerial views of my old school. If you want to see some for yourself and want to be able to zoom in, look for either Tottenville High School, Staten Island or it's physical address of 100 Luten Ave, Staten Island, NY. So much has changed! There is a painted divider down the middle of the street now and cement separators at the lights. The corners have lights! We didn't have any lights even at the major roads of Amboy Rd and Hylan Blvd. More houses on the north side of the street! The Spot is still there though. The Spot is where we spent many days getting wasted instead of going to school. On any school day you would literally see a cloud of smoke over where the kids hung out. There were at least 50 of us in there at any given time getting wasted. In the photo with the glow/circle if you click to let it go bigger, you will see a bit of a path and 'berm' there. Now look closely at each side of that path for the original height of that berm! Apparently it's gone down quite a bit naturally and then more from use. This path also leads to Wolf's Pond Park which was another place for fun. In the aerial view image, the squiggly lines were where they drag raced the cars. That mapped out about 1/4 mile if I remember correctly. I stand corrected on the amount of auto shops we had. From the looks of it, it looks like 10 and I can clearly see 8 bays open in the photo. So sad to see so many faggot cars there now. All up and down Eylandt street and in the shop lots it would be filled with some goddamn awesome muscle cars. Now you got the 'average joe commuter' wheels there. Not sure if they still do two a year but it's freakin' awesome. Englishtown (Old Bridge Township) Raceway Park Atco Dragway Numedia Dragway Beaver Springs Dragway York US 30 Dragway Turned my best times at Atco. My personal best was a 10.56 averaged 10.85 Best pass ever was with a friend's ride with a pass at 8.98. I wore his gear and helmet and never let NHRA officials see my face. You need a class license in anything that runs quicker than 9.99 RE: I bought it! - Twitchin Kitten - 03-14-2014 Just dropped it off at the dealer for the detailing and stripes. I should get it back like Wednesday. Kinda glad. This way fuckley won't see it when he creepily lurks in front of my house Monday and / or Tuesday when he's up here for court. I hope he skips and breaks bail. RE: I bought it! - LKTraz - 03-14-2014 Hmmmmmmmm..........since he won't know shit about the car you could run his ass off the road chase movie style and he wouldn't know who it was! |
