RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - Gunnen4u - 04-04-2012 Oh man, I am going to rape your brain here a bit, twist. I need help with replacing the bearings in my Schwinn Mesa. I have mechanic's background and taking it apart isn't an issue, it is what to replace the ball bearings with that I want to know about. Do I replace the cup and bearings themselves, can I fit sealed bearings in there? Where can I find the original size bearings and such? RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - Twitchin Kitten - 04-05-2012 Post in the sports section. We have a few bike threads going there and it'll make it easier to find at a later date for others seeking answers to that question. RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - Rhubarb - 04-05-2012 £1.57 a litre in Devon RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - twisteroo - 04-05-2012 (04-04-2012, 10:24 PM)Gunnen4u Wrote: Oh man, I am going to rape your brain here a bit, twist. If I remember correctly, the cheaper huffy's and stuff, (maybe your Schwinn) would have some sort of crappy bearings in a crappy sealed type cup. But anything worth it's salt will have individual loose bearings that can be taken out, cleaned and repacked and replaced, or replaced. Any decent bike shop will sell you individual bearings of the correct size. Hell, they will sell you one ball if that is all you want. Most of the trick to working on bikes is having the correct tools. For wheel bearing you need really skinny wrenches to get in there and do it right. We are talking about wheels, right? Or crank (bottom bracket) bearings, that's usually a whole other story. I just looked at a Schwinn Mesa...it looks like decent bike!!! Are we talking wheel bearings or crank bearings? Both are easy you just need a tool or two to get the job done. RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - Twitchin Kitten - 04-05-2012 Nah, I'll just throw out a TARD ALERT! RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - twisteroo - 04-07-2012 I saw $4.05 today on the pump. RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - Twitchin Kitten - 04-08-2012 They're paying $7/gallon on Catalina Island, Ca. WTF? Why is that asshole president we have NOT addressing this at all? RE: How much does Gasoline cost in your area? - Gunnen4u - 04-08-2012 Because to be honest, since when do Americans deserve cheap gas? The rest of the world doesn't. No one does. It's a luxury we've come to accept as something fundamental to our existence. Also, don't expect the taxes on gas to go down at all, not when they need revenue for the debt that will never be paid off. Besides, it isn't gas that is going up, it's the dollar that is taking a huge shit. Thanks, inflation (also caused by the ponzi scheme that is the US Federal Reserve and gov't -- Obama had a wonderful hand in that too). Just wait till it really hits over the summer. And if it was gas really going up, well, either way, not saying anything to address it means he doesn't have to talk about the pipeline he canned, the ban on offshore drilling, the capping of wells all over the US, and the billions he gives out to his campaign donor and political friends for bullshit green energy companies with no results. He just cannot *address* these issues. Literally, we've elected an African style Marxist who behaves with trademark arrogance. I am sure I will labeled racis' for that one. For now, the likely course of action he'll take will be to just blame the evil oil people, and then release the strategic reserve just before elections. Your average voter/peasant will think he fought for, and won, the lower gas prices and saved them. The gas prices will go back up rapidly shortly after this, but the election may be in his hands and after that he truly doesn't have to give a shit anymore. Ride a bike from now on. Stuff I would normally drive to do (like groceries for the week, etc), I now figure out how to do on my bike. It's hovering at $3.68 here. |
