A buddy was telling me that he saw that if you accessed FB from your phone that they then hoovered up contacts and everything, people's information that have never even been on FB. Sounds pretty shitty to me.
And no, registering here is pretty easy.
Yeah, depends on the phone's OS i think. Apple is pretty tight on what is and isn't allowed. But like the other thread where Tucker Carlson shows that tracking shit from Google, I'd like to see that done with all phone OS's.
Facebook also has a way of turning on your phone's microphone too and iPhone has a thing to make sure that doesn't happen. But regardless, there is no privacy there no matter what because whatever your friend's have as their settings, if they're open as all hell, then whatever you post to them or a page / group you all belong to is wide open. and then POOF! Just like that you're ripe for the picking.

The health information would be 'annonymized'. Then FB would take what THEY know, and re-attach names to the medical data. And since they have shown how good they protect data, your entire medical history would leak.
At this point it is really difficult for me think these idiots are just idiots. This is crossing over into illegal to me. The penalties for HIPAA breaches are fucking HUGE, and they wanted to do this. I am really glad I have never been on FB.

This is a perfect time to get pushing to get the forums busy again. I know a lot of people won't care about their privacy, many will think nothing can be done about it and even more will pay the cost of privacy protection and fill that cocksucker's pocket more.
I think that because Cambridge Analytica is a UK company, they can get away with this nonsense to some degree. When dick brain was stalking me, laws on how internet crimes can be prosecuted went by what state / country the website he was harassing me was hosted in. So because he used so many sites from the USA, including this one I was able to get several indictments on him for felony stalking and assuming a false identity.
There are no privacy protections that this shit will be able to enact that actually work and I'll bet that he'll just find another way to skirt around it.
