Sweet! OK now to think of something good.
That took quite a bit of detective work to figure out! But once I took notice that the buildings were shitty around there and that this thing was under construction, AND you said it was Iraq - I figured it had to be one of the mosques damaged during the war and was being rebuilt or something. Plus it's not full of all that spectacular mosiac work on the very old mosques.

Nah, it was being built and just never got the construction finished on time due to the war. It should be complete now or something. It looks like something off Star Wars

Really? Oh well, my backward logic worked anyway!
I couldn't find any photos of it complete. All my searches for mosques in Baghdad came up with some built but lots of bombing stories and not enough damage to cause a total rebuild. I just started going through the list of results and picked one that looked closest to what you posted. None of them had that much completed work either. I gather you took this while you were there?

The photo isn't mine. I only saw it a couple of times on helicopters and I drove near the area a couple of times going between base areas. I mean, you really can't miss it of you nearby. I never had the time or ability to take a photo except once. That was when I did get one of Saddam's Parade Grounds, but I have to find the negatives of those to get them developed. I should probably do that this weekend.
Anyhow, you got a tricky location in mind?
