Gas powered?! Those things are insane. How many RPM per gallon do you get? Giggle
Are they "green" for exhaust?

RE: Should I get a new blender? - twisteroo - 10-04-2011

Most of them are 2 strokes, there has never been, or never will be anything "green" about a 2 stroke engine. However I do love me some of that blue two stroke exhaust smoke.
I had a 500cc Kawi 2 stroke street bike back in my youth, it would go like a raped ape after it was up in the 5-9000 rpm range.

ermmm... the "green" bit was a joke.

RE: Should I get a new blender? - twisteroo - 10-04-2011

I know, green is all bullshit.
How much coal has to be burned to run a nice clean electric blender?
And to make burn "clean coal", they have to burn like twice as much to put out the same amount of juice.
Instead of buying a new blender you should put all your shit in a ziplock bag and smack it with a hammer.

Hey Aurora, do you have a Big Lots by you? They've got a mess of new buy outs in and a blender is one of them!

Hey Aurora, do you have a salvation army thrift store near you? You might be able to get the same exact model that you have now.Giggle

I got a blow dryer last week for $3, and it blows hot.

Too bad Ollie's doesn't have any locations out that way.

I checked Big Lots using Bismarck and there's 2 stores listed within 250 miles. Bismarck and West Fargo. Dunno if either of those would be close enough for you.

When it comes to blenders you get what you pay for. A good blender that will last you probably rest of your life is going to run you about 300+ dollars. In my families business we make smoothies and iced drinks and our commercial vitamix blender burned out few months ago so we bought This blender It runs like a champ and makes a batch of snow in 2-3 seconds. This would be overkill for most household uses but it gives you a Idea as to what works and whats used commerically. Don't buy blendtec they are overpriced for what you get and they are marketed as commercial blenders but in fine print says it voids the warranty.

Yeah, I think that's overkill on price for her. Would be for me too.

That Oster I have is plenty powerful and I think I paid around $30 15 years ago or so. Maybe even longer, I forget. Today's model looks just the same except they 'fancied' up the button row by making it curvy. The housing is a decent heavy plastic that won't chip easily and everything is made of vulcanized rubber or metal or glass. The lid is rubber and the measuring/removable center cap is the only plastic. I make smoothies in there all the time (real ones with yogurt, not that crushed ice crap from California) and they come out really nice.

It crushes ice like a champ too for those vodka slushies I am famous for.
