I've heard of none of the things of which you people speak except PacMan. My favorite at the arcade back in the day was Centipede. Way fun.

I don't remember Tempest. I was never a big arcade person, so I just picked one and stuck with it.
I do/did like pinball. I am also a big fan of ping pong. I don't play very often but am good considering. I want a table but like most things, it would probably be virtually ignored after two weeks....
We do have a foozball table we will be setting up this summer next to the pool. Speaking of which, the kids rarely will swim in it unless they have a friend over. I have to pull out the old, "When I was your age, we used to play with sticks and HAD A GOOD TIME DOING IT"

I remember feeding countless thousands of quarters (while drunk) into an asteroids machine and a pole position machine.

I have a Pacman and Galaga machine in my garage along with an Adams family pinball machine. I'm also stupid and uneducated and had no clue what a Paladin was lol.

Oh and we have a ping pong table also. I'm pretty good if I do say so myself, but not as good as my husband the European champion
