RE: The project
Yes it is, 9,600 something miles. At least as far as I know it's the miles.
I hope it hasn't turned over once before and it's got 109,600 on it or something.

RE: The project
Deal of the day.

I bought a couple of bags off of CL a few weeks ago. The guy was right up the road, $20 for a magnetic Yamaha tank bag and a Nelson Rigg tail bag. I had no use for the tail bag, so I just re posted it a day or so ago and some guy and his wife from around the corner just came over and gladly gave me $20 for this tail bag that is easily worth $70.....meh, they got a deal, I got a free tank bag.
Win/win. I don't usually make out like this, usually if I have it I paid a premium price for it and if someone else wants to buy it from me they don't want to pay shit. that's why I have so much crap.

RE: The project
OK, here it is as it sits now, kinda.

I put the GPS and stuff on just for a pic. But this is all the bells and whistles.
It's purring like a 30 year old Japanese kitten now too.
Running sweet. I will have to post up more pics when I get bored.

RE: The project
Yes, yes I do. I have not put it on yet though. I'll save it for the trip and add stuff to it as I go.

RE: The project
Seems to have a nice even idle. The engine seems to respond decently to the throttle and recover to idle smoothly.

Sounds a-ok to me.

RE: The project
That was actually the opinion I was looking for.
Thanks LK. Hopefully you are right. It is running really nice now, I have the carbs cleaned, synced, and the mixture seems just about right according to the brownish tone on the spark plugs. It runs well at all speeds and does not over heat, it shifts well too. It does not smoke either.

I think the bike is ready to roll.
Yesterday a guy at work sees it and told me that he has a bunch of stuff for a GL650 that he will give me as his wife gave his 650 away and it got scrapped. Shok
He said he has hard bags and tail lights and stuff. Hell, I'll take them, maybe I can upgrade some stuff or pass it on to someone with a 650.

RE: The project
When riding, if you are at a low RPM and DUMP the throttle, does it hesitate or bog at all? I mean it should just a little but not more than for maybe a tenth or two of a second. At best it will have no hesitation at all (PERFECT carb settings).

A light brown or sandy looking deposit on the spark plugs is just what you want. No smoke and clean pipes tell me you have it right and you're not sucking any crankcase oil past the rings.

I didn't hear any out of place whines or clicks on the video so I'd say that the engine is mechanically sound.

RE: The project
Sounds good to me Ok

Who am I to say, Marks bike sounds like a bag of nails until it's warm, then its great!
Mine sounds more like a kettle and No1 son complains it is too quiet and needs the baffles taken out.

He, who's bike is still going no where waiting for a 31mm on the sprocket.
Anyone? Fool
