 Bu**er!
There's a load of films/dramas/fiction on a series of TV channels tonight all with the word  Haunted in it.
Christine decided to watch one, while I was getting coffee. Which one? The very one I'm reading at this very moment, but:
1. It a mixed version, characters added and plot stretched
2. The characters aren't at all acceptable
3. The 'sister' in the book is nasty and not a sweet little 'twin'.

Argh!
I left the room but now I know what I thought all along, the house is a ghost!
Its a brilliant book, sad about the film
I'll finish it, but only in a well lite room ;)

Who's the author?

Have you ever read "Ghost Story" by Peter Straub? That first came out in 1979. When I read it it scared me so badly that when I was finished, I threw it away. Now I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER throw a book away. That's just wrong! But this book...*shiver*

Don't bother watching the movie. It was Sad, poorly done. Some books just do not translate well onto the screen.

 James Herbert.

I have read quite a few of his books but usually in the summer (short nights) but I picked up two hard back books at a flea market.

The Haunted and also The Magic Cottage, which I have already read and it really spooked me because I know of a cottage that fits the discription in the New Forest, where the story is set, near a friends cottage. I never go down that road at night, but all through the village to get to our friends. They think I'm strange.

I hadn't read The Haunted so accidently catching the film hasn't ruined it becuase I could see it was very poor adaption. If I was James Herbert I would have been dissappointed with the out come.

He also wrote The Fog, The Rats, Lair and The Survivor (that was really good).

I'll look for Peter Straub, I've heard of the name.
